Loro Park is one of the most visited places in Tenerife, it is located in the northern part of the island and is known primarily for the world’s largest collection of parrots, some of which are no longer found in the wild. There is also a unique collection of penguins, a huge collection of orchids (1000 species), the world’s most famous show of dolphins, sea lions and killer whales.
Today Loro Park is at the same time a botanical garden, a zoo, a dolphinarium and a large aquarium. In 2016, Loro Park was recognized as the world’s best park for family entertainment.
To date, the territory of “Loro Park” occupies 135 thousand m². The collection of parrots, including birds in the “storerooms”, is 4 thousand copies (350 different species and subspecies). Tourists are shown about 700 of them.
Annually in the park, there are one and a half thousand chicks that fly around the world. Thus, “Loro Park” participates in the necessary business of restoring the population of these already rare in many places of its traditional habitat of birds.
Since opening in 1972, the park has been visited by more than 45 million people.
Excursion to Loro Park usually takes a whole day, so the presence of restaurants where you can tasty lunch – this is an undoubted plus. You can also grab a basket with picnic products and triple lunch at one of the specially organized venues.
In addition, there are many souvenir shops on the territory where you can buy pleasant things to remember about the excursion. Photo can be made by local photographers, they photograph tourists with parrots and other inhabitants of Loro Park.

“Twin Ticket” is a double ticket to “Loro Park” and “Siam Park” (located in the southern part of the island). If you plan to visit both parks, then it makes sense to purchase it instead of buying individual tickets. You will save a little.

Do not be tempted to buy tickets from people who promise lower ticket prices. This is 99% of the time – fraud and you will not get to the park.
How to get to Loro Park by yourself?
Loro Park is located in the city of Puerto de la Cruz in the north of the island. If you plan to go by car, you have to go along the TF-1 expressway, a speed limit of 90-120 km / h. Follow the signs for Puerto de la Cruz. The journey takes about an hour and a half. In the city of Puerto de la Cruz, it is not difficult to find a park, follow the signs, which are many there.
The roads in Tenerife are very good, the traffic is calm, so boldly take the car and go on it to travel around the island.
By public transport bus
From the southern resort towns of Los Cristianos, Las Americas, Costa Adeje, Playa Paraiso to Puerto de la Cruz can also be reached by bus number 343 from the bus station. The ticket costs 15 euros per way for each passenger. And from the final bus you need to go to the park for another 20 minutes. Be sure to specify the departure time of the last bus from Puerto de la Cruz, so as not to be late for it.
On the company bus Loro Parka
From the southern part of the island it runs in the morning to Loro Park and in the evening back the bus of Loro Park itself. Bus stops are located in several places in the city and are marked with special signs. Tickets for these buses must be purchased in advance in ticket offices or on the park’s website.
A few useful things about Loro Park
In four different corners of the Loro Park, four types of performances take place daily: seals, dolphins, killer whales and parrots. Each – several times. If you are going to visit all the shows (included in the ticket price, nothing is paid extra), then you need to plan your trip carefully, pausing between the shows to see other notices.
In summer, it’s better to take 20 minutes before the show starts.
